Creating Coiled Pottery

Creating coiled pottery is a different technique from that of standard pottery made on a pottery wheel. This type of pottery is made by molding a piece of clay into a small coil (about the size of a pencil). Then this coil is wound round and round to form pottery to the diameter and height preferred. The exterior and interior of the pot are then smoothed to create the texture and design desired.

Each of the websites below goes into step by step detail of the creation of this type of pottery. There are many beautiful pieces made by this method. Check each website out.
